After leaving the palm trees and officially announced by Nottingham Forest, attacking midfielder Gustavo Scarpa played his first game for the English club this Tuesday.
The friendly match was played without an audience, in Greece, where the team is doing off-season work during the break in the calendar for the World Cup. The opponent was Atromitos, a club from the first division of the Greek Championship. Nottingham Forest ended up defeated by 3-2, but the Brazilian player stood out.
In his first game for the Premier League team, Gustavo Scarpa already showed one of his qualities and directly participated in two goals, both in the first half.
Just four minutes into the first half, the attacking midfielder took a corner kick and saw the Greek team’s defender deflect it into his own home. Shortly after, Atromitos tied the match. However, Gustavo Scarpa reappeared decisively and crossed for Ryan Yates to head to the goalkeeper’s defense, who was unable to prevent the second goal of the English on the rebound.
Despite leading 2-1 before the break, Nottingham Forest were unable to hold on to their advantage and took the second-half comeback.
After five seasons at Palmeiras, Gustavo Scarpa signed a pre-contract with the English team in July this year. Thus, at the end of his contract with Palmeiras this season, he moved abroad to fulfill his professional dream of playing in the Premier League.
