It took time for the game to pick up pace in a first part in which Athletic always had the initiative. A long shot from Pavel Pérez after eight minutes was practically the only approach before the break for Paunovic’s team, who had a lot of trouble avoiding the high pressure from Ernesto Valverde’s men.
It was also difficult for Athletic to generate near the Chivas area until, after a robbery in the center of the field, Asier Villalibre looked for the back behind to put a good ball that Alex Berenguerthe most active member of Athletic, took the opportunity to overcome with a cross shot to Miguel Jimenez.

At the restart, Valverde’s men maintained the initiative and at minute 58 Gilberto Orozco, in a good defensive action, prevented Morcillo from triggering what could have been Bilbao’s second goal.
A 2-0 who came just a minute later in a great shot from the edge of oihan sancet. Who, totally unbranded, adjusted the ball to the stick right out of Jimenez’s reach.
Not even the carousel of changes in the second half, in which the two teams completely varied their starting eleven, changed the dynamics of the match in the final stretch.
