Russian swimmer Yulia Efimova is going to continue performing at a professional level within the next year. The athlete named the timing of the end of her career in an interview with Match TV.
The swimmer said that after the Olympic Games in Tokyo, she had different thoughts, but she does not want to leave the sport on such a note. According to Efimova, she did her best before the Games, but the result did not come.
“And then a month and a half passed, I didn’t do anything, I got sick – and I swam out practically at my best time. Maybe I should train less? ” – added Efimova.
At the end of October, at the World Cup in Doha, the Russian woman won the 50 and 100 meters breaststroke.
At the Tokyo Olympics, Efimova performed only at a distance of 100 meters breaststroke and took fifth place in the final. The Russian woman has two silver and bronze medals of the Games. In addition, she won six world championships and became European champion seven times.
