Controversy over this video of Casemiro putting something up Neymar’s nose. The images spread like wildfire on social media.

Brazil’s 4-1 victory over South Korea has once again placed Tite’s men as the great favorites to win the World Cup in Qatar 2022. But there is an image that is going around the world more than Neymar’s dance , Raphinha, Vinicius Jr. and company for the goals at the 974 Stadium.

A sequence of just five seconds captured by the official transmission of the match generated astonishment and questions. The international agencies EFE and AFP also documented the curious fact. The protagonists were Casemiro and Neymar, two of the top references of the Canarinha who thrashed the South Koreans and easily sealed the ticket to the quarterfinals.

The game was about to start when Casemiro approached Neymar and put something on his nose. An image that was repeated during the second half and that spread like wildfire through social networks.

The memes and the controversy in relation to this image flooded the networks and the comments criticizing the Brazilian players were repeated.

But, what did Casemiro give Neymar? According to the Brazilian media OUOL, it is a simple ointment that some players use to open the chest and nostrils and thus breathe easier. Also the forward of the FC Barcelona Raphinha had to resort to her.

In a note published Monday, OUOL indicates that before the start of the second half Neymar and Raphinha applied a kind of ointment on the shirt, at chest level, and on the nose, respectively.

And he adds that it is not the first time that the number 10 of the Verdeamarela has done this during a game. “The purpose of the ointment is to relieve nasal congestion and thus improve breathing. For athletes, more efficient breathing helps to recover from physical exertion”.

Do not panic

Without wishing to get entangled in this controversy, OUOL He recalled that four years ago at the 2018 Russia World Cup Neymar also applied an ointment to his chest and nose during a match. “The measure helps athletes,” insisted that media outlet. “By breathing better, you help the recovery process. The better you oxygenate (your body), the faster you will recover,” explained physical trainer Zé Mário Campeiz at the time.

Campeiz detailed ointment can be used when the relative humidity is very low or very high. The 2022 World Cup takes place at the end of the year due to the high temperatures in Qatar and the Middle East.
