In relation to the Russian hockey player Nikolai Rizin, who beat the judge in the match of the amateur league “Labor Reserves”, a criminal case was opened for beatings. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a law enforcement source.
The Moscow head office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that the police were conducting an inspection after bodily harm was inflicted at a sports complex in the north-west of the capital.
The incident occurred on November 19 during a match between the Moscow teams “Leopards” and the National Assembly REVOL ICE. Rizin, who plays for the Leopards, received a two-minute penalty, drove up to the judge and hit him on the head with a club. When he fell on the ice, the hockey player delivered another kick. After that, the attacker was dragged away by other players. The judge needed medical attention. The referees recorded a forfeit defeat of the Leopards with a score of 0:5.
After that, the sports and disciplinary committee of the Moscow Ice Hockey Federation decided to permanently remove Rizin from all competitions held by the organization. The Federation intends to achieve the disqualification of the player and removal from all hockey competitions in Russia.
