Manchester City avoided a mishap. And he was losing 1: 3 to Newcastle

Manchester City started the 2022/2023 season with a 3-1 defeat against Liverpool in the Community Shield match. The English champions had a much better start in the Premier League, where they first won 2-0 against West Ham United and then beat Bournemouth 4-0. In the third round, Man City’s rival was Newcastle United, and bookmakers or some experts indicated that the team led by Pep Guardiola would win this game without any problems.

The English champions were losing, but turned the game upside down. Haaland’s third Premier League goal

Manchester City entered the game well against Newcastle United and were in the lead in the fifth minute after Ilkay Gundogan took advantage of Bernardo Silva’s pass from outside the penalty area. However, Newcastle did not intend to stand out from their rivals and in the 28th minute they managed to equalize thanks to Miguel Almiron. Eleven minutes later, Callum Wilson found himself great in the penalty area and defeated Ederson. Allan Saint-Maximin played a key role in both goals, scoring two assists and doing great against Kyle Walker.

Newcastle United raised their lead on 54 minutes after Kieran Trippier fired a free-kick into the left-hand side of a goal guarded by the Brazilian goalkeeper. This Newcastle goal marked a landmark for Manchester City to increase the frequency of attacks on Nick Pope’s goal. First, Rodri’s pass from close range was used by Erling Braut Haaland, and in the 64th minute, Bernardo Silva turned a great pass by Kevin De Bruyne into a goal.

Newcastle United could have come in the last quarter of an hour without Kieran Trippier, who was given a red card for a foul on De Bruyne. Eventually, the referee, after consulting the VAR system, reversed this decision and the English defender saw only a yellow card. Both teams had their opportunities to score a fourth goal, but the game ended in a draw. This is Manchester City’s first point loss this Premier League season.

Draw on St. James’ Park puts Arsenal in the lead after the third round of the Premier League, with a 3-0 win over Bournemouth last weekend. Manchester City are seven points after three games and are runners-up in the English league – with Tottenham, Leeds United and Brighton still having the same number of points.
