This Tuesday, Liverpool and Rangers faced each other in the third round of the group stage of Champions League. At Anfield, Jurgen Klopp’s team won 2-0, with a free-kick goal scored by Trent Alexander-Arnold and another from a penalty scored by Mohamed Salah.

With the result, the English reach six points and are in the runner-up of group A. The Scots occupy the lantern, still without scoring.

In the other game of the group, Napoli (leads the group with nine points) thrashed Ajax (third place with three) by 6 to 1, in a comeback, in Amsterdam. Raspadori (twice), Di Lorenzo, Zielinski, Kvaratskhelia and Giovani Simeone scored for the Italians, while Kudus scored the only goal for the Dutch.

In the next round, Liverpool and Rangers will face each other again, this time in Scotland. The game will be on October 12, at 4 pm (Brasília time), at Ibrox Stadium.

The match between Liverpool and Rangers

Jurgen Klopp sent Liverpool to the field with: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold (Joe Gomez), Matip, Van Dijk and Tsimikas; Henderson (Fabinho), Thiago (Milner), Salah and Luis Díaz; Diogo Jota (Roberto Firmino) and Darwin Núñez (Elliot).

The first half was largely dominated by the English. Darwin Núñez had a great chance after just two minutes, but he stopped at Rangers goalkeeper McGregor.

At seven, Trent Alexander-Arnold opened the scoring. The right side made a perfect free kick in the right corner and sent it to the back of the net.

In the sequence, Liverpool piled up chances with Salah, Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz, but failed to extend the score in the opening 45 minutes. The goalkeeper McGregor had a decisive participation, with great saves.

In the second half, the English got the second goal. Luis Díaz passed two markers on the left, was brought down inside the area by King and the referee awarded the penalty. Mohamed Salah went to take the penalty and stole the nets.
