Ellen Van Dijk and Tobias Foss, time trial world champions; Oyarbide 32nd and Lazkano 29th

Ellen Van Dijk and Tobias Foss have been the best in the time trial of the World Championships in Wollongong (Australia). The Basque representatives Lourdes Oyarbide and Oier Lazkano have been far from the top positions; 32nd and 29th respectively.

In the women’s event, the Dutch Van Dijk has achieved the gold medal. The 35-year-old cyclist has completed the 34-kilometre course with a time of 44 minutes and 28 seconds. Thus the Dutch has revalidated the title she achieved last year. The second place has been for the Australian Grace Brownwhich has come within 12 seconds of the winner. The bronze corresponded to the Swiss Marlen Reusserwho has needed 41 seconds than Van Dijk. Lourdes Oyarbide finished in 32nd place, 6 minutes and 22 seconds behind.

In the men’s event Tobias Foss has given the surprise. The Norwegian has won with a time of 40 minutes and 2 seconds. The 25-year-old runner has taken gold beating great specialists. The podium was completed by the Swiss Stefan Kung (second) and the Belgian Remco Evenepoel (third) at 2 and 9 seconds respectively. Oier Lazkano finished in 29th place, 3 minutes and 9 seconds behind the champion.
