Investigations against Wiesbaden city council in AWO affair

In the course of the AWO scandal, rooms in Wiesbaden were searched again. This time, according to a report by the Wiesbadener Kurier, the investigations are also directed against the social affairs officer Christoph Manjura.

In connection with the AWO affair in Wiesbaden, the Frankfurt Public Prosecutor’s Office had AWO business premises and private rooms searched on Wednesday. According to information from the Wiesbadener Kurier, it is also about the suspicion that today’s head of social affairs, Christoph Manjura (SPD), as a city councilor, was bribed by the former AWO leadership.

The then City Councilor Manjura was employed between 2015 and 2017 as a personal advisor to the former AWO district manager Hannelore Richter. Rumors of a possible bogus employment in Manjura have been around for some time; internal reports available to the HR suggest this. The SPD politician could not be reached on Wednesday evening to comment.

The name Christoph Manjura (SPD) is not mentioned here – however, the AWO district chairman Wolfgang Hessenauer had confirmed to the Wiesbaden courier that the raid was primarily about a possible bogus employment of Manjura with the district association. According to the report, investigators took three boxes full of personnel files with them after a four-hour search of the AWO office in Wiesbaden’s Nerotal.

Infidelity, corruption and sham employment are in the room

Before Manjura became head of social affairs for the SPD, he sat in the city parliament for his party. At the same time he had a job at the AWO Wiesbaden. Manjura himself admitted that the interests of the AWO and his socio-political interests often overlapped. In the past, he vehemently denied that he was employed by the AWO only for pretense.

The Wiesbaden district association had meanwhile filed for bankruptcy and is looking for a buyer for its nine daycare centers and two nursing homes.
