Milton Vera had won his rally competition in the T2 category on Sunday afternoon, and a few minutes after winning, a hit man appeared from the bushes and shot him several times.
While the victimizer fled, the friends and acquaintances of the Manabi runner were surprised to see the pilot shot in the seat of his vehicle.
The attack happened on the Milton Torres tracks in the city of Santo Domingo, to where the man had gone to be part of the first valid Regional Rally Cross Championship.

After the attack, the entire event, including the award ceremony, was suspended. Despite the bullet wounds received, some of Vera’s friends took him to a health center near the scene of the event, but the death was confirmed at that medical center.
During this weekend, in the province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas there were six violent deaths.
