Karla Bone, 32, ordered her resume before 2:00 p.m. this Thursday, July 14, in the midst of an endless line of people who got up early to deliver their resumes at the operations center of the Metropolitan Public Company de Aseo de Quito (Emaseo), located on Mariana de Jesús Avenue and Occidental Avenue, in the north of Quito.

According to this local entity that is part of the capital’s Municipality, there is a contest of merits and opposition for the position of assistant of collection and cleaning services. It seeks to cover the need for permanent staff. In total 228 people are required.

The woman’s last job was as a security guard for two months.

She arrived at 08:30, but she did not know what personnel they needed. She is a high school graduate and mother of two girls. She complained that there was no information or order, and pointed out that there were people who got into line.

If he does not manage to enter Emaseo, he said that he will continue looking for a job elsewhere.

Xavier Paredes, 52, had been queuing for more than five hours. He arrived at 07:00. He had previously worked in a private company dedicated to this task, but the contract ended and he had to leave. He has been unemployed for seven months. He was hoping to drop off his papers today.

Other people had arrived at 06:00, such as Byron Caranqui, 26 years old and a bachelor, who mentioned that at times there was chaos and running around. He pointed out that he was running to clean up the streets of Quito. Due to his financial situation, he was unable to attend university and is unemployed.

The delivery of the resume had some inconveniences, since some people would have tried to enter without respecting the order. There was a police presence, and tear gas was even fired so that a single column was formed and not several.

In the surroundings there were feeders installed on public roads, people who brought umbrellas to protect themselves from the sun or rain and itinerant vendors selling cookies or ice cream.

Emaseo personnel began to place identification on the right hand of people, and to enter the place they had to present their identity card.
