Messages, incentives and more vaccination points: state strategies to increase assistance for reinforcements against COVID-19

Motivational messages and incentives, in two phases, are part of the government plan for citizens to attend to receive the booster doses against COVID-19.

The national Emergency Operations Committee (COE) established, on July 7, an inter-institutional committee to develop the incentive program for mass vaccination in order to complete the two doses and the application of boosters: third and fourth dose.

This committee, in accordance with the resolution, is made up of the president of the national COE, the Vice Presidency of the Republic, the ministries of Health, Education, Economic and Social Inclusion, Government, Defense, Environment, Production , National Risk and Emergency Management Service, National Police, Armed Forces, Secretary of Higher Education (Senescyt), National Traffic Agency (ANT), Civil Registry.

The motivation would be through email messages or SMS messages.

Juan Zapata, president of the national COE, maintained that the Civil Registry serves 10,000 people daily, as does the ANT. In addition, there are more than 4 million students and teachers in the Ministry of Education, more than 50,000 police officers and their families.

He added that it seeks to reach rural areas through the Water Boards with the Ministry of the Environment.

“(Vaccination) has not gone at the same rate as the first and second dose, so we have to return to that rate (…), perhaps people have relaxed a little because practically Ecuador is experiencing normality, but the virus Go on,” he reflected.

There will be, he added, a communication campaign and university brigades.

In six provinces there is less coverage of the third dose of the vaccine against COVID-19, according to authorities

In a second phase, incentives are proposed to the population with the support of the private sector, with soccer teams and organizers of massive events.

As examples, the official pointed out that discounts could be given with the vaccination card or with the third dose, raffle tickets for soccer matches among vaccinated people or place a mobile point at the entrance of stadiums, although an evaluation must still be made .

Gabriela Uquillas, director of the Ecuadorian Business Committee (CEE), was asked about what incentives companies could give, but she replied that she was going to talk about it first within the union.

Another strategy of the public sector is to increase the inoculation points. Thus, until July 19 and from this Tuesday, citizens in general can approach points such as the National Police or those authorized by the Municipality of Quito.

The Quito council enabled sites in the North Metropolitan Health Unit, in the Benalcázar and Calderón municipal educational units, in the north.

In the south, in the South Metropolitan Health Unit and from this Wednesday in the Central Metropolitan Health Unit. The office hours will be from 08:00 to 15:00.

This Tuesday, July 12, Police Sergeant José Valle received the fourth dose at the National Police health center, on Mariana de Jesús Avenue, five months after the third injection.

“It is in order to avoid contagion,” he said about the reason for attending. She planned to take her children for their third dose this Wednesday.

Valle got coronavirus three months ago. He had bone and throat pain, discomfort in general, which he suffered for six days.

Municipality of Quito will open five new vaccination centers against COVID-19

In the opinion of Francisco Viteri, Secretary of Health of the Municipality of Quito, there was a new wave of infections in mid-May, June, July and a slowdown and even fewer cases have begun to be observed.

For Viteri, the behavior of the virus shows that it is endemic, that is, during the year it is undulating in terms of its increase in cases that depends on seasonality or climatic seasons.

The situation in general is slowing down and in Quito, for three consecutive weeks, the incidence of cases and positivity have begun to drop, he said in an interview on Facebook Radio.

Regarding vaccination, Viteri indicated that the health centers of the Ministry of Public Health have been reinforced with municipal personnel and logistics to expand the supply of vaccinators.

The official indicated that between 1,500 and more than 2,000 people are vaccinated daily at the different inoculation points in coordination with that State portfolio.

At the Benalcázar school, in the north of the city, on the first day of reopening for vaccination there were complaints about the care, although other people considered it normal.

For Juan Rodríguez, 72, the process was very bad, as he argued that there was no order, people did not respect the line and there was no one to control, but in the opinion of Susana Loján, 63, the process was excellent. since it took about 30 minutes.

In the next session of the national COE, which will be this Friday, July 15, each state entity must present an incentive plan for mass vaccination, and a new evaluation of the epidemiological situation will also be made. (YO)
