With posters calling for the unblocking of roads and a prompt solution to the strike, a group of workers from the poultry and flower sectors of Cotopaxi held a sit-in on Monday morning.

The workers put black plastic on the floor and placed dead chickens, flowers and buckets of eggs there. They did it to make visible the losses they have had by not being able to get their products out due to the blockade of the roads.

The sit-in was held in front of the Government of Cotopaxi, in the central area of ​​Latacunga.

Cotopaxi is one of the provinces where indigenous movements maintain roadblocks in protests against the government.

The organizations of the northern area of ​​Cotopaxi have ratified the indefinite mobilization until the ten points required by Conaie are met.

But that protest has caused huge losses for the poultry and flower sector, which has not been able to make its normal sales during these 15 days of protests.

Last week, the organizations linked to Conaie protested in front of the Governor’s Office and carried out a symbolic takeover.

The agricultural sector has lost, in thirteen days of strike, around $142 million, an average of $11 million per day, as revealed this Monday, June 27, by the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Bernardo Manzano, in Guayaquil. (YO)
