In Novosibirsk, an independent deputy of the City Council Svetlana Kaverzina was detained. This was announced by her assistant Mikhail Ryazantsev, adding that Kaverzina is currently at the police station.

As Ryazantsev, quoted by the Novosibirsk Online website, explains, the detention may be related to Kaverzina’s call to hold a procession of the Immortal Regiment in the Shluz microdistrict.

The event in question is the traditional laying of flowers on the Alley of Memory of the Dead Siberian Soldiers, which has been held for 60 years. “No political statements are expected (according to tradition), the laying of flowers is not a public event, it does not require notification,” explains Kaverzina herself, who received a warning the day before about the “inadmissibility of extremist actions” from the deputy prosecutor of Novosibirsk.

Now, at the place where the announced action was to take place, the crews of the police and the National Guard are on duty. Residents of the city gathered on the Alley and laid flowers at the monument.
