Russian President Vladimir Putin sent congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the Victory to the leaders of the DPR and LPR, as well as the countries of the post-Soviet space and Central Asia. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the Kremlin.

Addressing the leaders of the republics of Donbass, Putin expressed confidence that “as in 1945, victory will be ours,” and in a message to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the president stressed the inadmissibility of revenge on the ideological heirs of those who were defeated in this war.

In addition, according to Channel Five, the Russian leader wished the Ukrainian veterans health, longevity and mental strength, and the people of Ukraine – a “peaceful and just future.”

Recall that on February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), and on February 24 he made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” The goals of the special operation were called “demilitarization and denazification” of Ukraine.
