The lifeless body of Ximena Delgado Bravo, 35, was found in the Chone river, at the height of the Otto Arosemena bridge, on the morning of this Monday, November 1.
One of the merchants who came early to leave their shellfish at the entrance to the Puerto Arturo sector spotted a person floating face up on one of the river banks and immediately called ECU911 to alert the authorities.
Dozens of onlookers came to the place. Likewise, elements of the Police were located around the site of the discovery and asked citizens to keep their distance. With the arrival of members of Criminalistics and the Directorate of Violent Deaths (Dinased) the body was lifted together with members of the Fire Department, who extracted the woman’s body from the tributary. The body was covered to be transferred to the Manta forensic center in order to comply with the respective autopsy of the law.
Many citizens were surprised by Ximena’s drowning, since the place where she appeared was dry, so they believe she may have had an epileptic seizure. Relatives corroborated that she suffered from these alterations.
Acquaintances indicated that the now deceased lived in the Potrerillo de Chone sector and that she sometimes walked the streets selling candy, and that she was separated from her partner.
In the midst of consternation, relatives of the deceased asked the authorities to continue the investigations to determine the causes of her death.
Armando Padilla, chief of the Chone-Flavio Alfaro Police District, indicated that the Delgado was engaged in the sale of candies in the center of the city, and that they continue with the investigations to establish the real causes of his death.
The police chief added that preliminary traces of violence were not observed on the woman’s body, however the result of the autopsy is awaited to know more details of her death. (I)
