Residents of Belgorod and its suburbs began to massively complain about the acrid smoke and the smell of burning. It is reported by “Bel.ru”.
In particular, people write that it smells like burnt grass or burning plastic. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Emergency Situations stated that no fires were registered in the city and its suburbs.
As later explained in the operational headquarters of the region, the smoke was brought from Ukraine.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations stressed that they are checking the areas of smoke. Emergency services are working in enhanced mode and control the borders of the region.
Earlier, the Belgorod region was subjected to repeated shelling by Ukraine. A “yellow level” of terrorist threat has been introduced in the region.
Recall that on February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), and on February 24 he made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in Donbass. He, in particular, stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia”, and stressed that “Russia will not allow the appearance of nuclear weapons in Ukraine.” The goals of the special operation were called “demilitarization and denazification” of Ukraine.
