In Siberia, the situation with forest fires is still difficult.
The Krasnoyarsk Territory suffered the most – more than 500 houses burned down and seven people died, NGS24.RU reports. Another 19 local residents were injured, 14 of them required hospitalization. The fire broke out in about 20 settlements, and a state of emergency was declared in the region.
At a meeting with fire victims in Uyar, a representative of the governor, Vladimir Shaeshnikov, said that “95% of the burned houses are old wooden houses,” which angered local residents.
Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Uss reported on the situation to the President of Russia. Vladimir Putin “expressed sympathy for the people of Krasnoyarsk for such a powerful blow of nature” and instructed his subordinates to help people and restore the burned-out housing.
Four people died in the Kemerovo region in the Tyazhin district, Interfax reports. In addition, the fire destroyed 143 houses, more than 200 people were left homeless.
In the Irkutsk region, two people became victims of fires, Governor Igor Kobzev said on his Telegram channel. The region is in a state of emergency.
In the Omsk region, according to RIA Novosti, more than 200 residential buildings burned down, while the fire could not be extinguished due to strong winds. The mayor of the city of Nazyvaevsk, Viktor Lupinos, was detained, he was accused of abuse of power. According to the investigation, he did not ensure compliance with fire safety standards.
