Since Monday, 26 murders have been reported in Zone 8 (Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón). Only in the last 24 hours the number of violent deaths in this sector went from 445 to 453 cases.
Several cases were reported in the south and northwest, and even one person who was injured days ago eventually lost his life.
Only on Wednesday afternoon two women were murdered in the north of the city. The first was Gisela Zambrano Vargas. She was shot while selling juices from a cart at kilometer 15.5 of the road to Daule.
In the same place, last Friday the gunmen gunned down a man and left three more wounded, including Zambrano’s father.
The new victim does not have a criminal record and the Police presume that they killed her so as not to leave witnesses.

Gisela was shot in the neck and bled to death next to her cart.
Ginger Ponce Gómez was murdered at 3:00 p.m. in La Florida, north of Guayaquil. The victim, who was four months pregnant, was shot by a hitman who entered her house and fired 20 times.
A 19-year-old who was with her was injured. Police reported that the woman had a history of drug trafficking.
Agents investigate whether this case is linked to drug sales and the links that the victims had.

An hour later, Victor Napa, 37, was also shot. His body was left lying on the coop road. María Piedad, on Mount Sinai. According to versions of the residents, while the victim was circulating, two men on a motorcycle shot him.
The neighbors were scared and even closed their businesses after the crime. At the scene, about 30 bullet remains raised Criminalistics. According to the first data collected by the Police, the victim was a lender and had no criminal record. (I)
