A drug plane was intercepted on the road that leads to the Engunga commune, Chanduy parish belonging to the Santa Elena canton, minutes before several individuals loaded dozens of blocks of drugs, presumably cocaine.
The operation was carried out by intelligence personnel from the National Police after receiving an alert from the Armed Forces and was carried out from 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.
With a drug plane found in the Manglaralto area, in Santa Elena, there are three seized in 2021
It is being investigated whether the aircraft had a false plate and would have come from Mexico to the country to load the alkaloid, which was hidden in a kind of cave covered with weeds and is part of a natural tributary.
Among the evidence found is a black vehicle, ten fuel cans, the plane that would have a false license plate glued on top of the original, cans with covers to filter gasoline and miguelitos, to throw them during the police pursuit.
Until now, Criminalistics personnel are on the site fixing the evidence. The Police ruled out that there were clashes with the subjects due to rumors that shots were heard.
More and more drug planes arrive in the country because the laws protect the pilots
Agents who participated in the operation said that no one was arrested and that there appeared to be half a ton of cocaine in eight packages that were in black bags.
It is presumed that the drug was going to be shipped on the plane and its final destination was Central America. (I)
