More than 135 thousand prohibited materials have been blocked by Roskomnadzor since the beginning of 2022, while information about 61 thousand materials with prohibited content was sent by the citizens of the Russian Federation themselves.

According to the agency, 46,000 materials blocked in 2022 belonged to three categories of information – “drugs”, “suicide propaganda” and “child pornography”, which is 35% less than the same period in 2021. At the same time, social networks themselves deleted more than 84% of all information identified in these categories.

Roskomnadzor recalls that starting from February 1, 2022, amendments to the law “On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection” came into force, obliging social networks to independently identify and block information, the dissemination of which provides for administrative or criminal liability.

A few days earlier, on April 25, the deputy head of Roskomnadzor, Vadim Subbotin, announced that more than 85,000 fakes had been removed since the start of a special operation by Russian troops in Ukraine. On the afternoon of April 29, the agency announced the restriction of access to several resources, including the online encyclopedia of fine arts WikiArt.
