The Russian Union of Travel Industry called on the government to allow Turkish airlines to operate more flights to Russia. According to RST press secretary Irina Tyurina, this will allow tour operators to fulfill their obligations to customers on purchased tours.

Tyurina noted that the Federal Air Transport Agency has so far approved only a third of the flights requested by Turkish airlines. This situation has developed because of the threat of arrest of Russian aircraft flying to resorts in Turkey. As a result, it may turn out that the tours are sold, and the travel agency is not able to provide the service due to the lack of air traffic.

In addition, some tour operators are experiencing difficulties in obtaining quotas for flight programs of Turkish airlines, Interfax reports.

“In the absence of blocks of seats on the flights of Turkish carriers, they will not be able to fulfill their obligations to tourists to transfer already paid tours and return funds,” the PCT representative explained.

Tyurina added that now Turkey is the “most promising” tourism destination for Russians, and additional flights to the country will, among other things, reduce prices for holidays within Russia.

Recall that Turkish Airlines canceled part of the flights in May from Russian airports, as they were not coordinated by the Russian authorities.

Earlier it was reported that the Turkish representative of the largest European tour operator TUI sent a letter to hotels demanding to cancel the bookings of Russian tourists.
