The Department of Environment and Preservation of Green Areas of the Municipality of Guayaquil will plant 4,000 native trees in eight natural areas of Guayaquil tomorrow, March 26, 2022. This activity is part of the Siembratón initiative, which has the support of volunteers and private companies.
The areas selected for planting are the protective forests Cerro Paraíso, Bosqueira, Sendero de Palo Santo, Cerro Colorado, La Prosperina, and the Parque Lago National Recreation Area, Parque Metropolitano and ACUS Samanes 1 tropical dry forest. Planting will start at 8:30 a.m..
The planting of the 4,000 native trees will preserve the soil from erosion, purify the air, conserve biodiversity and native fauna, regenerate soil nutrients and reduce greenhouse gases.
