The national teams of Spain and Germany will play in the same group at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar according to the results of the draw held in Doha. According to TASS, the teams were in group E along with the Japanese team. Also in the group will be the winner of the match between the national teams of Costa Rica and New Zealand.
Germany has won the World Cup four times (1954, 1974, 1990, 2014). The Spanish national team is the winner of the 2010 World Cup.
As previously reported, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected the request of the Russian Football Union to postpone the play-offs for the right to play at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Thus, CAS refused to satisfy all the requests made by the RFU so that the Russian team could play at the World Cup in Qatar.
On March 24, the Russian team was supposed to play with Poland in the semifinals of the 2022 World Cup play-off tournament. On February 26, the Polish national team announced its refusal to play a play-off against Russia. The teams of Sweden and the Czech Republic announced the same decision.
The World Cup in Qatar will be held from November 21 to December 18.
