The Ministry of Defense is developing a plan to strengthen the military potential on the western borders of the Russian Federation. This, according to RIA Novosti, said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to develop a plan to respond to increase and strengthen our military potential on the western borders.

“Of course, this will be done in such a way as to protect us and to maintain the necessary parity in everything, so that it would not occur to anyone, in Russian speaking, to attack us,” Peskov said.

Recall that on February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), and on February 24 he made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” The goals of the special operation were called “demilitarization and denazification” of Ukraine.

In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, European Union, Great Britain, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
