Quito-Quevedo
The National Police reported on the afternoon of Thursday, April 7, that five people were detained in the vicinity of the Ministry of Defense, in Quito, who were in the parking lot of the institution in a suspicious attitude and were traveling in two vehicles not belonging to the entity; one of the cars had inconsistencies with the alphanumeric series.
The fact was alerted by an officer of the Armed Forces, who communicated with ECU911. At the time of the arrest, officers discovered cash in several suitcases in one of the vehicles. In addition, a firearm was found.
How is the preparation for the trial of Don Naza, the promoter of Big Money, progressing?
The Police pointed out that according to versions of witnesses in the place was Miguel Ángel Nazareno, known as Naza.
However, the authorities clarified that this matter is being investigated, since at the time the patrol car from the El Panecillo police unit arrived at the Ministry, the promoter of the Big Money money-raising platform was not found.
Don Naza, as he is known in Quevedo, offered to return 90% interest in eight days to people who “invested” in this system. Thus, hundreds of people were carried away by the attractive performance and deposited amounts that even exceeded 5,000 dollars.
The Ministry of Defense parking lot, located in the center of Quito, was closed and cordoned off by Criminalistics agents to examine the scene and collect evidence.
A defense attorney for the detained persons told the media that he does not know if the leader of Big Money, Miguel Ángel Nazareno, was with his clients, and emphasized that the retention was supposedly “illegal”, since -according to him- he must have been informed of some flagrante delicto that they had previously committed.
“We do not understand why the retention was made, nor is there an authorization from a prosecutor of the Flagrant Unit for the apprehension and to qualify the crime, supposedly in the possession of my defendants was found cash that they must justify, as well as He accuses them of circulating in a vehicle with allegedly forged license plates. The legal situation of my clients who are from the province of Los Ríos and Guayas must be resolved in the Prosecutor’s Office,” said the legal professional.
For this Friday, April 8, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., the preparatory hearing for the trial against Nazareno, his wife Gabriela B. Q and Dayanna Nikole S., accused of the alleged crime of illegal collection of money, is scheduled.
The suspects must intervene telematically in the Judicial House of the Quevedo canton, as indicated on the website of the Judicial Council. (I)
