TOULCAN

A corpse that was in a jute sack was discovered on the afternoon of this Tuesday, the 22nd, in a ravine in the Pistud sector, in the Bolívar canton, 60 km from Tulcán, in Carchi.

The first investigations show that it could be the merchant Darwin Revelo, who was reported missing by his partner last Sunday.

He lived in the Cuesaca neighborhood and since last Friday his relatives were unaware of his whereabouts. That day he said goodbye, since he planned to travel to the interior of the country.

Jimmy Arciniegas, head of the Special Operations Group in Carchi, reported that they had to descend approximately 100 meters with the entire rescue team to extract the lifeless body.

The officer indicated that the body was handed over to the Legal Medicine staff, in charge of transferring the mortal remains to the San Gabriel morgue, to determine the causes of death.

Richard Karolys, commander of the Police Sub Zone, said that the person found is approximately 30 years old, and has five cuts on the skull caused by a machete.

He was, added the commander, inside the sack, tied hand and foot.

Karolys commented that in the Montúfar-Bolívar Police District there have been six violent deaths, the result of criminal violence, so far this 2022. (I)
