President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky agrees to discuss with Russia the issues of Crimea and the recognition of the republics of Donbass, but only after the Ukrainian side receives security guarantees. He himself stated this in an interview with a number of television companies, his speech was published on the website of the Ukrainian Public Television.
“This is a very difficult story for everyone. Both Crimea and Donbass are for everyone. And in order to find some way out there, you need to take this first step,” Zelensky said, adding that he meant security guarantees and the end of the special operation.
Zelensky noted that he was ready to discuss these issues at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also added that “in matters of security guarantees, we will talk about constitutional changes, changes in Ukrainian legislation.” “And if we talk about it, then in any case it will be decided not only by the president, <…> but also by the Rada and the people of Ukraine,” Zelensky stressed, quoted by TASS.
Earlier, Kyiv at the talks offers to create in Ukraine “an Austrian or Swedish version of a neutral demilitarized state,” said Vladimir Medinsky, aide to the President of Russia. The Kremlin later confirmed that such an option for a neutral state in Ukraine is now being discussed, and it can be seen as a compromise.
