The credit ratings of all Russian companies and organizations will be withdrawn by April 15. This decision was made by the international rating agency S&P Global Ratings, the agency said in a statement.

April 15 is the deadline set by the EU amid a ban on providing rating services to Russian clients.

Earlier, S&P announced the suspension of commercial activities in Russia due to the situation in Ukraine. The day before, S&P also downgraded Russia’s long-term national and foreign currency credit rating to ‘CC’ from ‘CCC-‘, while short-term ratings were left at ‘C’.

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, EU, UK, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
