Russian citizens will not be considered extremists and will not be punished for using Meta products. This was stated by the prosecutor in the Tverskoy Court of Moscow during the consideration of the suit of the Prosecutor General’s Office to recognize the company as an extremist organization and ban its activities in the Russian Federation.

“The use of Meta products by individuals and legal entities should not be considered as participation in extremist activities,” said a representative of the supervisory agency, TASS reports.

According to him, Russians will not be held accountable for using Facebook (blocked by Roskomnadzor) and Instagram (the social network is included in the register of banned sites by Roskomnadzor). At the same time, the company will be deprived of the opportunity to open branches and conduct commercial activities.

In turn, a representative of Meta said in court that the company changed its policy and declared the inadmissibility of Russophobia and calls for violence against Russians.

Meanwhile, the FSB proposed in court in the event of a ban on Meta in Russia, to start implementing this decision immediately.

Recall that Meta owns the social networks Facebook, Instagram, as well as WhatsApp and Messenger from Facebook.
