Quito taxi drivers ask for safe-conducts in Pico and Placa and greater control of informal vehicles

From 04:00 this Monday, March 21, 2022 representatives of several taxi cooperatives in Quito went to the historic center to claim against the digital applications that work with private vehicles, demand greater control over informality.

Taxi drivers also ask to be part of the exceptions in the Pico and Placa vehicle restriction.

In the streets Venezuela and Sucre, next to the Plaza de la Independencia, more than a hundred people were stationed who asked to be received by the mayor Santiago Guarderas, however, the metal fences and police presence prevented them from reaching the Municipal Palace.

The Secretary of Mobility of Quito, Richard Well reported that the Metropolitan Transit Agency has carried out 137 control operations, achieving the retention of 134 vehicles for failing to comply with the required permits.
