Edison Galarza, News Director of TV 6 of Caluma, reported that for fifteen days the heavy rains have caused some inconveniences in the canton. And this Sunday, March 20, the considerable increase in the river’s flow caused some problems in homes, orange plantations, pig farms and other infrastructure.

He indicated that in the upper part of the Charquiyacu-Tres Pailas area there was evidence of the loss of the roadway and that some pig farms were affected by the flood, for which the Camacho family lost some animals.

Due to the increased flow, the water entered several homes, but there were no fatalities.

Galarza said that the force of the flood dragged stones and sticks of different sizes, which led to fears that in the lower parts there would be problems with the houses that are on the banks of the river, but thanks to the retaining walls there was no damage. more severe.

He commented that in addition to the Charquiyacu site, the river crosses areas such as San Vicente de Pacana, tourist centers and Caluma, where the population was on alert for what could happen.

In Charquiyacu, the waters passed over the entrance bridge to the place, in the sector known as the El Acorazado tourist complex, where the water rose about 50 centimeters, while the force of the current began to affect the foundations of the roof of the Caluma municipal market.
