About 65% of Georgian citizens support the decision of the Georgian authorities not to join the sanctions against Russia imposed by the US, the EU and other countries. This is evidenced by the results of a survey commissioned by TV Imedi by the International Center for the Study of Public Opinion and Business GORBI on March 10-16.

At the same time, 30.4% of the survey participants do not support “sanctions neutrality”, and 5.2% found it difficult to answer.

A total of 1,008 people took part in the survey.

In addition, 76.5% of the survey participants were against the involvement of the republic in the events in Ukraine, 19.6% were in favor, and another 3.9% of citizens found it difficult to clearly define their position.

This position of Tbilisi is not surprising – Russia is the second largest trade partner of the republic after Turkey. Earlier it was reported that the trade turnover of Georgia and Russia in the first two months of 2022 increased by 37% compared to the same period in 2021 and exceeded $274 million.
