Sugar in the retail chains of Primorye this week will rise in price from 79 to 90-92 rubles. per kilogram. This was stated by the Minister of Industry and Trade of the region Sergey Kalitin in the Telegram channel of the government of Primorsky Krai.

“From this week, sugar will be shipped, here in Vladivostok, 88 rubles will come already. The price of sugar is set in accordance with the price determined on the exchange. Therefore, new shipments will be 88 rubles each, taking into account the road. We plan that on the shelf it will be about 90-92 rubles,” he said.

Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office began inspections as part of countering the illegal increase in prices for socially significant goods, including a number of food products, household chemicals, and personal hygiene products. Meanwhile, Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matviyenko assured that Russia has sufficient stocks of sugar and buckwheat, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov urged not to buy goods, being in an unstable emotional state.

Professor of the Basic Department of Trade Policy of the Russian University of Economics G.V. Plekhanov, Vyacheslav Cheglov suggested that not only the rush demand caused by the completely normal desire of people to stockpile in the face of unpredictability and the rapidly changing exchange rate of the ruble, but also the factor of producers led to the shortage and increase in sugar prices in Russia.
