US President Joe Biden has scheduled a visit to Europe. On March 24, he will visit Brussels, said White House press secretary Jen Psaki, as quoted by Reuters.
In Brussels, he intends to take part in an emergency summit of NATO countries. Then, on March 25, Biden will fly to Poland, where he will later meet with the country’s president, Andrzej Duda.
As Psaki clarified, this trip will be aimed at continuing to rally the world against Russia and special operations in Ukraine, as well as in support of the Ukrainian people. However, the US leader does not plan to visit Ukraine, the spokeswoman added.
In addition, on March 21, before the trip, Biden should have telephone conversations with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. They, according to media reports, will discuss a “coordinated response” to the Russian-led special operation in Ukraine. Conversations, as specified, will take place over a secure connection.
Earlier it was reported that the EU is working on the fifth package of sanctions against Russia. Among the restrictions is the import of Russian oil. This topic will be discussed on March 21st.
We add that Biden also intends to discuss the Ukrainian crisis and the consequences of sanctions against Russia at a meeting with representatives of US big business and banks. According to the press service of the White House, the participants of the event will talk about plans to reduce costs for working American families, to create high-paying jobs, as well as the problems of the climate crisis and ways to resolve them.
