23-year-old paratrooper Sergei Omelchenko died during a military special operation in Ukraine. This was reported by the official group of the Glushkovsky district in the social network VKontakte.

A native of the village of Veseloye, Sergey Omelchenko graduated from the Veselovskaya secondary school, then entered the Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Command School. The head of the Glushkovsky district of the Kursk region, Pavel Zolotarev, expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the deceased.

Recall that the Russian Ministry of Defense only once, namely on March 2, called losses during military operations in Ukraine among Russian military personnel. According to the agency, 498 soldiers were killed during the special operation, 1597 were injured. Since then, reports of the death of servicemen have been received from the administrations of various regions of the Russian Federation.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that more than 7 million rubles would be paid to family members of servicemen who died in the operation in Ukraine; the wounded will receive an additional payment of 3 million rubles.
