Recall that in recent days, against the backdrop of sanctions by Western countries against Russia due to its military operation in Ukraine, as well as a sharp depreciation of the ruble, a rush demand has arisen in a number of regions for certain types of food (buckwheat, sugar), household appliances and electronics , personal hygiene items, resulting in a shortage of these goods.

On February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), and on February 24 he announced the start of a special military operation in Donbass. The goals of the special operation are called “demilitarization and denazification” of Ukraine.

In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including those of a financial and economic nature. Many Western companies left the Russian Federation.
