Ankara’s efforts are aimed at organizing a direct meeting between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine. As aa.com.tr reports, this was reported to Al-Jazeera journalists by the press secretary of the President of Turkey, Ibrahim Kalin, commenting on the actions of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, who recently visited Moscow.

Kalin recalled that Turkish President Erdogan had twice contacted Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky. Turkey, according to the Turkish speaker, uses all channels to quickly achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine.

“Today, the main task is to organize a summit meeting,” the spokesman said. He pointed out that “if Ukraine and Russia find understanding on such issues as the neutrality of Ukraine, guarantees that Ukraine will not join NATO, demilitarization following the example of Austria and the protection of the Russian language, then the presidents of the countries can discuss the issue of the political and legal status of Crimea and Donbass.”

At the same time, Kalyn Ibrahim stressed that Turkey firmly stands from the position of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

Recall that on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation in the Donbass. The goals of the special operation are the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. This was followed by tough economic sanctions by the US, the EU and other countries against Russia. Many Western companies left the Russian Federation.
