One million travelers are expected to move in search of relaxation on beaches and destinations in the Sierra

After the strike, the tourism sector expects a significant flow of visits. There are events for all these days.

With a truce to the demonstrations that broke out in some sectors of the country this week, the tourism sector breathed a sigh of relief and resumed expectations for this long holiday that will last until Wednesday.

Dozens of people began gradually to go out since yesterday afternoon to different destinations on the Coast and the Sierra to be able to enjoy the holiday as a family. The control operations were activated since noon yesterday.

The Government estimated that one million travelers will travel these days to various destinations. The regime decided to extend this holiday in an attempt to reactivate the economy of the tourism sector.

Rooms in 4 and 5-star hotels in Manta are fully booked from this Saturday, October 30 to Monday, November 1, while in 1 to 3-star hotels the occupancy level already exceeded 30%, in a city that offers accommodation for 8,064 guests per night.

Isidro Rodríguez, director of the Department of Tourism of the Municipality of Manta, said yesterday that 4 and 5-star hotels represent 50% of the entire tourist plant in this canton, with 2,102 beds to accommodate up to 3,850 guests.

Cuenca extends its tourist options in urban and rural areas for the holiday

The official believes that the stoppage carried out by social leaders caused some people to choose to change the planned travel destination during this holiday of the faithful departed.

“Now at the end of the national strike, let’s hope that more visitors will come to Manta,” said Rodríguez.

In Puerto López, on the other hand, the level of accommodation reservation until this Friday reached 90% of the total of its more than 2,200 rooms available, according to Santiago Guamaní, president of the Association of Hoteliers of this southern canton of Manabí.

The Police reported that it will deploy 1,617 members with the support of 475 logistical resources, while the Ecuadorian Traffic Commission will work on preventive tasks with 171 of its agents.

In the South of Ecuador, the expectation for the arrival of tourists is great, especially after the suspension of the strike. According to data from the Azuay Chamber of Tourism, hotel reservations are at 85%, but it is expected that from today the 10,000 available beds will be filled. Hundreds of social and cultural events were organized in Azogues and Cuenca for all tastes and budgets.

Once the tension over road closures ended, the authorities and leaders of the tourism sector focus on providing the best service to national tourists who will arrive in the city.

Juan Pablo Vanegas, president of the Azuay Chamber of Tourism, stressed that in the urban area there are many spaces to be rediscovered, such as buildings in the historic center that have been converted into viewpoints and restaurants. But he also invited to rediscover rural parishes that have been empowered with attractive and biosecure experiences.

Where the spirit is also in style is in Azogues. Its mayor, Rommel Sarmiento, invited tourists to visit his city located about 30 minutes from Cuenca, because between November 30 and April 4, in support of the private sector, free international concerts have been organized at the local stadium.

Among the invited artists are Los Panchos (Mexico), Los Iracundos (Uruguay), Los Jayac (Ecuador), La Sonora Dinamita (Colombia), Don Medardo (Ecuador), Paulina Tamayo, among others. Those interested in attending can collect their passes at no cost next to the stadium.

For his part, the mayor of Cuenca, Pedro Palacios, invited people because with everything planned, the offer is much wider than usual, so he is sure that, although there are five days of holiday, “it will be short ”.

An important aspect to take into account is that by order of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, the Cuenca-Molleturo-El Empalme highway is closed to vehicular traffic between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. This is the main connecting route between Azuay and Guayas. An alternative is the Cuenca-Zhud-Cochancay. As for the weather, it is recommended to bring warm clothing.
