The members of the Association of Alternative Medicines and Shamans of Ecuador announced that this Sunday, March 20, from 10:00, in the Juan León Mera country house they will celebrate the Pawkar Raymi (Andean New Year party) and then, at 6:00 p.m., on the Camino Real, at the entrance to the La Manzana de Oro sector, the walk on the fire will take place.
Ali Tapia, president of the organization, commented that they want to share their ancestral knowledge with people.

He stated that for this purpose the members of the Association were asked to have about seven days of preparation, in order to present themselves to the new year purified, as the ancestors did, light the fire, on March 21, to plan to work the present.
Magdalena Sánchez recalled that the organization has been operating since September 2000, and that its mission is to transmit ancestral knowledge to future generations.
The idea is that this is not lost, for which the important thing is to put into practice the wisdom of the Incas, taking into account what good living means, he said.
Luis Castañeda said that the walk on the fire is in gratitude to Taita Inti (father Sun), Mama Killa (mother Moon), Taita Wayra (father wind), Mama Yaku (mother water) and Pachamama (mother earth), for everything what they provide to humanity.
He argued that the person who passes through the fire is purified of the bad deeds he has committed during the year, that this has an important meaning for the ancestral peoples.

For his part, José Mayacha, mentioned that in the Mera farm, visitors will be able to know what ancestral life has been like in the Amazon.
