Roskomnadzor recorded 54 cases of censorship of Russian media channels and public figures on YouTube, and since Google refuses to lift restrictions, technological measures may be applied to video hosting. This was stated in a statement from the department.
The RKN notes that they sent demands to the company to stop discrimination on all facts of censorship of Russian media, including those that have a multi-million audience, but as of March 18, Google LLC did not comply with these requirements.
The agency again called on Google’s leadership to stop any restrictions on the Youtube platform in relation to Russian media and to ensure unhindered access to information for Russian users in accordance with Russian law.
Earlier it was reported that Roskomnadzor demanded that Google LLC immediately stop spreading threats against Russians on YouTube video hosting. The department indicated that YouTube users are broadcasting commercials with calls to disable the railway communications of the Russian Federation and Belarus. Such actions, the RKN emphasized, “are of a terrorist nature and threaten the life and health” of Russian citizens.
