Electronic Arts (USA) has banned Russian and Belarusian cybersportsmen from participating in Apex Legends and FIFA 22 matches in connection with the Russian special operation in Ukraine.

This decision came two weeks after the international esports organization ESL suspended the Russian teams Virtus.pro and Gambit from participating in the 15th season of the professional esports League.

A similar decision was made by smaller organizers of professional leagues – Blast and Elisa.

At the same time, following the example of the Olympic Games, ESL said that it would allow Russian teams and players to take part in their competitions under “neutral” names, without team logos or national colors.

Earlier, EA announced that it would stop all sales of games and content, including virtual currency sets, in Russia and Belarus while the special operation continues.

Russian esportsmen are strong players who win international competitions. In particular, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Russian cyber-team “Team Spirit” on their victory at last year’s world championship in the game “Dota-2”.
