The National Agency for Tax Administration (ANAF) of Romania announced the blocking of the bank accounts of the local representative office of Aeroflot. The order of the tax administration was published in the journal Monitorul Oficial, which publishes official acts of the state administration.

The order notes that the restrictions were introduced in accordance with the regulation on restrictive measures “related to actions that undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.” Also mentioned is the fact that Aeroflot’s board includes Vitaly Savelyev, Mikhail Poluboyarinov and Sergey Chemezov, who are on the EU sanctions list.

As a result, the agency blocked three accounts of the representative office of the air carrier in Bank Raiffeisen. As noted, this the first sanction introduced in Romania against a Russian company.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including those of a financial and economic nature.
