The heavy rains recorded during these days caused damage to the boardwalk of the Ballenita spa, belonging to the Santa Elena canton. The affected sections were temporarily closed.

The rainfall caused a huge river that left mud, fences and debris in the children’s area and in the parking area.

The most serious thing was that it caused an undermining in one of the paths to go down to the beach. There, instead of the cobblestone, there is a hole, which prevents the passage of tourists and people who work on the beach.

This Friday, March 18, a group of workers from the Municipal Tourism Company (Emuturismo) carried out the removal of debris and security tapes were placed to prevent visitors from crossing this area until the repair work is carried out.

An official from the municipal company stated that the work is expected to conclude with the support of the Fire Department for today, especially since this site, since it was regenerated, is one of the favorites by tourists nationwide.

Most of the premises decided not to open their doors in the morning hours, due to the low influx of bathers.

Georgina Torres, a beach merchant who rents umbrellas, commented that she was not going to be able to work because in the area where she works and places her material there was only rubble and stones, and that the tributary carried away part of the sand.
