The Russian automotive industry, at least in the cargo segment, has had problems with the production of equipment of Euro-5 and higher classes.

In this regard, the government of the Russian Federation is ready to temporarily reduce the requirements of the technical regulations on emissions in order to maintain the workload of production facilities, Kommersant newspaper reports.

As the source of the publication explained, “reducing emissions requirements will give car factories time to implement solutions for import substitution of those components that provide Euro-5”, but this is “a temporary alternative for a period of break in technological chains”.

Meanwhile, in the truck segment, this may be delayed: for example, the same KAMAZ, even for the only old K3 line currently being produced, is highly dependent on foreign components.

We also recall that earlier this week, the head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, during a meeting chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin, warned that up to 15,000 employees of KAMAZ PJSC could go into idle mode, and a decrease in production volumes could reach 40 %, until the issue with the supply of components is resolved.
