Egg producers at a meeting of the board of directors of Rosptitsesoyuz announced that they were going to raise prices for this food product for retail chains. It is reported by “Kommersant”. The Ministry of Agriculture told the publication that at present the poultry industry is forced to work in the face of a serious increase in the cost of feed and other items necessary for the production of eggs. The ministry believes that the situation will stabilize due to a temporary ban on the export of grains used for the production of feed to the EAEU countries.
Egg prices usually go up before Easter. However, this year, their cost for a month and a half before the Orthodox holiday has already increased by 15-25%, and, according to a Kommersant source, it will increase even more – up to 30-40%
Earlier, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia, responding to a sharp rise in sugar prices, and in some regions its shortage, said that it would check market participants to prevent delays in shipping sugar to retail outlets. At the same time, the FAS pointed out “the inadmissibility of unreasonable price increases and the creation of artificial shortages,” and clarified that, if necessary, the prosecutor’s office would respond to these cases.
