The Chairman of the Committee for the Preservation of the Cultural Heritage of the Leningrad Region, Vladimir Tsoi, on his page on VKontakte, announced the readiness of the Ministry of Defense to transfer two military camps located in the historical part of Vyborg to the ownership of the region.
“The Ministry of Defense agreed to transfer the long-suffering military camps in Vyborg, abandoned several years ago, to the ownership of the Leningrad Region. The conservation committee imposed fines on the owner for improper maintenance of the monuments, as these towns are objects of cultural heritage, ”the official wrote.
Tsoi explains that the Leningrad region has been seeking such a decision for ten years. And he reveals further plans: after restoration, one of these military camps will house a branch of the regional center “Avangard”, and the other – a school.
“This is really very positive news. We really hope for the transformation of these abandoned territories,” the residents of Vyborg reacted under the post.
