Around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, on Colombia and José Mascote streets, 40-year-old Emilio Teodoro Egas was killed while serving customers at his food store.
The victim was shot by a thick-set man who approached with a revolver and shot Egas four times. One of the impacts received by the man was in the head.
The killer then ran toward a motorcycle waiting for him on a corner, witnesses said.
In the suburb of Guayaquil they threw dynamite at two houses belonging to a family
The residents mentioned that the merchants in the sector have received extortion calls and death threats if they do not pay, so they asked that it be investigated if this case is related to the refusal to pay “the vaccine” to the extortionists.
Egas’s neighbors assured that he was a healthy man and asked that the cause of the crime be investigated. The police of the sector assured that they have not received complaints of this type of extortion calls.
William Barreno, chief of the 9 de Octubre district, arrived at the scene and said that Egas had no criminal record and that agents will try to identify the killer. (I)
