The US may impose new sanctions on Russia, including further exclusion of the country from the world economy. This, as reported by RIA Novosti, said the press secretary of the White House Jen Psaki.
“I would not argue that we are holding back on the issue of sanctions… There are a number of additional steps that we can take… for example, impose restrictions on new faces, tighten existing sanctions, continue to exclude Russia from the international economic system, prevent modernization and diversification its economy,” she said.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the introduction of counter-sanctions against US President Joseph Biden, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, as well as a number of department heads and well-known American figures. Prior to this, the United States expanded sanctions against Russia and Belarus. The updated list, in particular, included First Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Ruslan Tsalikov and deputy heads of the military department – Army General Dmitry Bulgakov, Colonel General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, Colonel General Yuri Sadovenkov, Colonel General Gennady Zhidko and “civilian” deputies Timur Ivanov, Alexey Krivoruchko and Nikolai Pankov. In addition, the lists included the head of Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheev, and the director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, Dmitry Shugaev.
