ANT issues resolution to facilitate the mobilization of vehicles in the national territory, in the event of an emergency in the institution’s computer system

This was established by the transit entity in resolution No. 080-DE-ANT-2021, of October 29, 2021, before the start of the holiday.

The National Transit Agency (ANT) released a recent emergency regulation that aims to facilitate vehicular mobility during the next holiday and in the coming weeks, after the attack on the institution’s computer system: Axis 4.0.

This was established by the transit entity in the resolution No. 080-DE-ANT-2021, signed by Adrián Castro, executive director of the ANT, this Friday, October 29.

Before the issuance of that measure, last Thursday, the institution said that the process of restoring the computer system was progressing after the “serious damage” caused in the vehicle registration and driver’s license services.

Since last 21, a technical team from the ANT, with the support of the Ministry of Telecommunications and the Information Society, the National Telecommunications Corporation, as well as computer experts, have been working to reestablish the customer service.

“At the moment, we have overcome all the problems with the license renewal processes, and details are being finalized to restore the obtaining of the license for the first time,” said in a statement.

Regarding the registration processes, he said that they were working with the municipalities in order to guarantee safe connections before restarting the procedures.

These are the points established by the emergency regulations:

  • Authorize the circulation of new vehicles throughout the national territory and that have not been able to carry out their complete vehicle registration process for the first time, from October 20, 2021 until 30 days after the date on which the Axis 4.0 system is find operative. To circulate, the invoice issued by the respective commercial house will suffice.
  • Authorize the circulation of vehicles throughout the national territory with license plates that are not in force at the present date and that require following a vehicle registration process, with any digit up to 30 days after the date on which the Axis 4.0 system is found. operational.
  • Authorize that all the necessary documents for the registration and issuance processes of licenses that expired as of October 20, 2021 remain in force.
  • Suspend all the terms and deadlines of the processes or sub-processes established in the current regulations that are linked to the Axis 4.0 system, until the problem is resolved.
  • The authorizations are also applied to authorize the departure of public transport units from land terminals in the country.

In addition, the ANT urged the municipalities of the country to, in use of their attributions and competences, exonerate the fines that are generated by the delay in the complete process of transfer of ownership of the vehicle, in the cases of sale and purchase carried out since 20 October of this year.

When services are fully restored, the entity indicated that the resumption of care will be communicated in its agencies.

On October 25, the ANT issued another resolution (No. 089-DIR-2021) to urge the municipalities to waive the fines for 9-digit vehicles that do not complete the registration process within the annual schedule, as well as the cost of the garage service in the vehicle retention yards. (I)
